X-PEL
Galvanic Isolators protect wasting anodes and all boat DC negative connections
from corroding, when connected to shore power. This corrosion is caused
by electrolysis or galvanic action due to a voltage differential between
the shore earth and the boat DC negative. For safety reasons it is a BMF
recommendation that the AC shore power earth, and the boat DC negative,
are connected together. This means that all boats on a pontoon are connected
together via their earth wire when connected to shore power. This connection
can cause eddy currents to flow between boats and rapidly erode all metal
parts including propellers, rudders, etc. in contact with water. The X-PEL
Galvanic Isolator will help to protect against this erosion.
