X-CELLMK2 COMBI SINEWAVE INVERTER/BATTERY CHARGER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Important Notes:-

When installing the inverter fit a suitable Residual Current Circuit Breaker and one or more suitably rated Mains Circuit Breakers between the output of the inverter and any mains loop. This recommendation is for safety reasons, 230 volts can be dangerous if equipment is not installed and protected correctly.

There is a considerably greater voltage drop on cable runs of low voltage, high current systems than high voltage, low current systems. This simple formula can be used to calculate the expected voltage drop :-
E (volts drop) = 0.0164 x I (current flow) x L (length in metres including positive and negative leads)/ S (cable size in mm)

For maximum efficiency and safety it is important to reduce the distance from battery to inverter to the practical minimum. The cable length of the AC supply from inverter to appliance is relatively unimportant.

Connecting to the Battery Bank.

Note Caution

Connecting a battery bank with the wrong battery voltage to the Combi will cause irreparable damage. Ensure that the Combi DC voltage rating matches the battery bank voltage to which it is to be connected.

Prepare the batteries for connection.
Prepare battery cables, if necessary press on cable tabs/shoes.
Connect the red cable to the Battery Positive (+).
fuse/circuit breaker and the black cable to battery Minus (-).
Take care when connecting the second cable to the battery, as a spark is produced, this is caused for a short time due to high current flowing in the Combi input circuit to charge the capacitors.
This is another reason to install a battery fuse/circuit breaker. For this reason follow strictly the safety measures described in the comprehensive manual supplied with the Combi.

DO NOT INSERT THE BATTERY FUSE AT THIS STAGE.

Connection to the AC OUTPUT.

The AC output must be connected to the screw terminal AC OUTPUT. For this use a 3 core cable with a conductor cross section of 2.5 mm². Connections are marked as follows "OUT / N" = Neutral, "GND" = Earth, "OUT / L" = Live or Active.
Caution: High voltage can be at the AC output, ensure the Combi is not connected or switched on when making AC connections.

Connection to the AC INPUT

The AC input supply from the mains supply or from a generator must be connected to the screw terminals AC INPUT. For this use a 3 core cable with a conductor cross section of 2.5 mm². Connections are marked as follows "IN / N" = Neutral, "GND" = Earth, "IN / L"= Live or Active.

Connect the Solar module: SOLAR IN +/-

Only Solar modules with an output conforming to the specification should be connected to these terminals. Under no circumstances should any other energy source i.e. wind generator be connected to these terminals.
Depending on the power of the modules the cable cross section should be 2.5 mm² up to 6 mm². Before connecting it is necessary to check with a Voltmeter that the voltage of the Module meets the following values:
Combi -1500SL -12 / Combi - 3000SL -12 is 17-25V / 30A.
Combi -1500SL -24 / Combi - 3000SL -24 is 34-45V / 30A.

Connection to Aux 1 & Aux 2:

On these three terminals is a volt free change-over contact capable of switching a maximum current and voltage of 16A/250V ac. The " multi-display " on the front of the Combi can show the status of these contacts.
